by jayhawk1 inyesterday was my crappy birthday, http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/20/127389/1.ashx and while the evening went along, i realized something.
i've been out of the watchtower for about 6 years now and i still don't enjoy the holidays or my birthday.
i can't recall one time saying to myself, "wow, that was so much fun.

I was probably just leaving as you were entering. You are right about Dorothea she was a big lady with long black hair. She has university degree in music and theology. Sandra Chapates was my girlfreind for 4 years while I was there. I noticed you worked at a mission in Manitoba. I stayed at the Sally Anne there in 1990 right across from the lighthouse mission. There was also a trailer nearby with Christians that used to help people. I also stayed at the mission in Edmonton right across from the womens shelter. That place was scary.

Lady Lee I was one of the lucky ones too. On the 12th floor I had my own bathroom as well. I can't beleive I didn't run into you. I always used to take it from the main washrooms. You might know some of the same people I do. My floor was always a disaster mostly alcoholics and disturbed people. Did you get to know Dorothea Mawhinney and Sandra Chapates on the 8th floor. This is wild! I bet I know who was in your room before you. Never was too crazy about the staff except for charlie.

Ya youre right man. I know it. I'm just not in any position now and don't trust. When I was on the streets one time I had finally found a good place and only had it less than 1 month. This guy who was a traveller I got to know and trust because he was an xjw needed a place to stay while he was in town. I let him stay in my little room and the little @#$%$%^ shit waited till I was asleep and stole all my rent money. I woke up at 5am and he was gone. Beleive it or not I tracked him downtown and found him eating in a restaurant. I followed him to the washroom to throttle him and the owner kicked us out. As soon as he was out the door he bolted with my money to a closeby car and I never saw him again. I got a thousand stories like that and am hungry for vengeance. His name was Danny Drost from New Brunswick and he served as a ministerial servant. He also goes by the name Michael crib. Come to think of it, when I hitch hiked to B.C. I got very sick and was lying in the streets some stranger took me and paid for me to stay at the Hotel California on Granville st. in vancouver. He saved my ass. There were acts of kindness in my travel. I used to frequent club 44 the mission in vancouver as well.

Not only was I raised in an organization that doesn't give, nothing was ever given to me. To the contrary everything was taken from me and I have lived in survival mode for the last 20 years. All of a sudden i'm supposed to be this giving caring guy. Why don't I just bend over and take the whole thing.

What sorts of books or other material do you read?
by zagor ini dont think i have a particular style.
in fact it changed through different stages of my life.
as a kid i loved reading novels, which changed once i came into my teens, and i started developing interest in hard stuff of natural world, psychology, ancient cultures and mysteries.

They say when you read a book you retain only 10%. With this in mind It takes me a long time to get through a book and actually digest it. 10% seems like a waste of time to me. I do beleive however there are those who absorb material like a sponge and can read and learn much quicker. I have seen these types in classes. A lot of the time, there parents are proffessionals and I beleive they teach there kids how to do this, giving an obvious advantage. I like to read things that are passionate and deal with real life. I like history but hate mathematics. I like physics but only the concepts. I subscribe to time magasine and read every bit of daily news online. I also like learning about phychology. I need absolute silence and peace of mind to do this. It always helps if it interests me. Oh ya I'm an antique buff too.

So tired...I feel like less than a sparrow (me)
by JamieL inthis is a nice big open board, thought i'd throw myself out there.. recently i had been a part of the "e-jehovah's witness" board.
especially as i don't think i even care that much anymore.
well, 3 weeks after that she cheated again, with a different guy.

Jamie ma man., you are tired for a reason. Deep down your gut is telling you something you ought to be listening to. The elders putting your life on hold is a disgusting reaction to the insults you have already suffered. You really ought to consider some therapy from professionals who will sort out your childhood and tell you the real reasons you continue to subject yourself to this insolence. Sticking around on this board is very therapeutic and nonjudgementaland may lead you to some answers you just wouldn't beleive. That's my two cents dude. Your enviornment is killing you. Whatever happens I wish you the best.

What really made you exit the Jw's
by KAYTEE ini know its a question that has been asked a thousand times, but what really made you exit the jws .. for instance, my wife and i, having found out about the u.n., 607bce, failed prophecies etc.
gave all this information to my wifes brother, along with many so called friends.
we came out but the brother and friends stayed in.. the only reasoning i can put on it, is that we made an effort to find out for ourselves what was the real truth, the others were told and given written evidence - but still didnt make a decision.

They kicked me out. I didn't leave or disagree with anything they said. My resolve to stay away from them, came from being shunned by people I thought were my freinds and the injustice of the elders who supposedly have holy spirit guiding thier decisions. Over the years, in my abscence I was able to see the hypocrasy and errors in doctrine. If not for my own outrageous defiance as a teenager and stubborness I might still be a witness today. I soon came to see that they are no different than anyone in the world. Even worse, because they do the same things but put on an air of riteousness about it. I'm still not sure how many of my veiws are still rooted in the way I was raised. But I know I will never return.
